How To Change Your Car Oil To Save Money

Sick of paying high amount for oil? Save your money by changing oil on your own. It is easy to change oil with proper guidance. Following instructions will guide you step by step how to change oil of auto vehicle. This will save your money which you either pay for the same.

Instructions

First, jack up car at either front tire in order to get room to loosen oil pan plug. You will find indentation plate clearly marked in car’s vehicle handbook.

Once the car is enough jacked up so that you get under it, slide the oil catch under the vehicle.

Next step is to lay down a piece of cardboard to lay on and loosen the oil pan plug. Be sure in positioning the oil catch properly under the vehicle so the oil does not end up everywhere.

Slowly loosen the plug and oil should start to dribble in a slow steam. You should dribble the oil out of the oil pan into the catch very slowly and carefully.

After you dribble the oil into the catch locate the oil filter. Oil filter looks like a cylinder shape. They are always labeled as “oil filter” on it. Loosen the oil filter.

If it is not possible to loosen the oil filter with your hand you can use the screwdriver to get this work done. Stab the oil filter with a screwdriver to get the filter turn initially.

Now it will be easy for you to unscrew the filter with hand. Keep it so it is upright because there is a lot of oil in the oil filters. Now you have to install a new oil filter by screwing the new one in the place of old oil filter.

You can tighten this new oil filter with hand and no need to use screwdriver. Once the oil stops dribbling out from the oil pan, tighten the oil plug back up and remove oil catch from underneath of the car.

Then lower the jack to bring the vehicle on the ground in the normal way it stands. Then open hood of the car. Locate the oil fill cap. This part is located right side of the engine block.

Assist with vehicle handbook for oil quantity required and the type of oil required. Put recommended oil quantity into the vehicle. Wait for 5 minutes and check the oil dipstick. Turn on the vehicle and drive away.
